Would this require nationalisation? Or is there an alternative way?
An objective view of the state owned (nationalised) and run organisations in Scotland makes grim reading. Despite (because of ?) government focus, ££ and in most cases much hard work by the staff the roll call of calamity is long. You would have to be optimistic indeed to propose that Care Home managers, as seen on TV, of which only a few have been successful in fighting off the NHS should be replaced by unaccountable bureaucrats.
A casual glance at the centre of Aberdeen would reveal that certain “Non-believers” wish to have no stake in saving churches. The Triple Kirks site in the town centre for decades looked like it had been damaged by the Luftwaffe. Greyfriars Kirk next to the gleaming City Council Marischal College looks grimily bleak and has not had a congregation or use for years.
And I know I am going back a bit, but the Snow Kirk in Old Aberdeen was vandalised for its stone by the University. And St Machar’s Cathedral (or, more formally, the Cathedral Church of St Machar) had its chancel demolished in 1560 during the Scottish Reformation. The bells and lead from the roof were sent to be sold in Holland, but the ship sank near Girdle Ness.
Be careful, leopards seldom change their spots — see the two, bestowed as a gift to the city by King James I, just the same year in year out on the civic crest.
→What ? Chris Witty has practical Ebola expertise & some. He is a Prof at Gresham College & gives lectures there, available on YouTube. I hope that is it “answered” but could provide more, if necessary

I think Audrey Wells’ point was that certain commentators (& commenters) just make stuff up eg “lack of any recognisable rule of law”
