every child in Scotland taught a second language professionally from P1

It’s a good thing that the Scottish Government’s 1+2 Approach, aimed at ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn a modern language (known as L2) from P1 until the end of the broad general education (S3), and that, each child is entitled to learn a second modern language (known as L3) from P5 onwards. (The policy should be fully implemented across the country by August 2021)

As usual funding is an issue especially with respect to “professionally”. It so happens that Mandarin is mainly taught by native Chinese teachers who are helped by some excellent native Scottish Mandarin experts. It’s a shame that there has been such (Trump led) racism which appears to have taken hold in some UK media
