- The Chief Medical Officer in Scotland also broke Lockdown and reluctantly quit after TV apology. It seems that its a celebrity scientist type thing

- Three key differences: 1. She wasn’t the one who put the entire country on a path to economic devastation with a set of apocalyptic forecasts. 2. When she resigned, she simply said she’d got it wrong, sorry, that’s it. Ferguson is defending himself by saying that, since he’d already had the virus he was immune so that’s ok, even though the rest of us who have had it are not allowed to apply the same principle. 3. He is still one of the government’s key advisers, he’s just doing it from his post at Imperial rather than formally sitting on a government committee. It’s a bit like when Botney “resigned” from the BBC and continued to earn half a million quid a year from it.

- She made mistakes on testing.
- She eventually resigned after apologising and Nicola tried to keep her -as the talent pool up here is shallow. (as for immune he had to have some excuse)
- Are you sure he seemed to be on the fringes with his own radio/blog PR. At least Dominic keeps a low profile
- You are right about “resigned” he keeps his paying job.

- And if one of the key assumptions about this virus is incorrect (mindful that there is very little known), then they will all be violently in agreement with each other and still drastically wrong. They are using the same sources of information, so even if independent there will be significant group think between the models

- “little known” We have had viruses for thousands of years — the Romans used Frankinsense to ward it off. We now know that its tiny, can use such as Diamond Light Source to look it (also cryo electron microscopes). We have had earlier goes with Sars, HIV, Common Cold virus etc. There’s umpteen people working and publishing every day see online The problem is political (how many understand R vs R(average) ?).

- How many viruses have we seen that young kids don’t pass on to elderly people? That has a case fatality rate 1/10 lower than originally estimated? We may have had millennia of Viruses, but are you telling me HIV is the same as a cold? It took 40 years to get on top of HIV.
