A curriculum planning example

I would like to see the above lens used for looking at, say, Drugs education in our schools. As a parent & teacher I remember the unsuccessful approach where Police at the higher levels of your “stack” ended up without training delivering the message at evening sessions, CPD and even to kids.

More recently in 2016 Scotgov produced: ‘What Works’ in Drug Education and Prevention? This literature review examines the evidence of effectiveness of different types of drug prevention and education for children and young people. It reported that progress has been poor for all the latest approaches which “showed weak effects that were rarely significant”.

By way of contrast STEM education seems to be thriving, with curricular maps, IOP led stuff and an overall better feel good factor.
